Here are the pics from my trip this weekend!! This is part 1. I'll post part 2 later :-).
1) We left early. Chris and I were tired:

2) Flowers in the ditch on the way to West Texas. This was sort of the last pit of natural color we would see. New Mexico was just dry, dead desert.

3) The brown, dead desert starts in West Texas:

4) Chris and I at a rest stop in West Texas:

5) A stop for soda and to stretch our legs on our way to the West Texas mountains. This little valley had the most incredibly powerful vibe!

6) These bunnies were at our camp site. They were so hot, they had hunkered down in the sand in the shade of a tree to keep cool. We didn't end up camping after all, as it was 104 degrees Farenheit in the shade. We went to a hotel ;-). My kind of camping trip!

7) Chris and I at the hot campsite:

8) This campsite was supposed to have a 'lake'. You can see the 'lake' behind me. It was a good half mile from the campsite and was more like a glorified pond.

9) Just some shots of New Mexico.

10) At Carlsbad Cavern National Park:

New Mexico was just dry, dead desert. Just the southern part. I’m a northern girl who needs her mountains.

Majority of the population is Hispanic with roots going back around 500 years. A different heritage and culture than other Hispanic groups, and found only in the USA. Spanish is also different.

I grew up when there was a good amount of hippies there, the 70's, but now there are not that many. Some stayed, some moved away and some became Yuppies. Rich people have discovered Taos, and that always changes the town. Many actors have homes there.
There are a lot of artists there, but there are also a lot in Santa Fe and ABQ. Same goes for mystics.
The Taos I grew up in is very different the Taos that I see now.
What was it like: the smell of lilac, icicles, the llano, mano Nick, hippie neighbors, snow, playing in the ditch, pueblo Indians walking all around town wrapped in a blanket, the plaza with regular stores, mana Faustiana, having dogs that would go after mano Nick’s chickens, picking asparagus, my grandpa’s big garden, weeding the big garden, moisture in the air, green, a bear running up the llano and what seemed like the whole town was chasing him, kind of like a Frankenstein movie, out houses, the casita veja, Ranchos, Canon, Rio Grande Gorge(which will be shown in the new Terminator movie, water spiders, snails, my grandparents, ect...
